Retin-A is a medicine used for the treatment of acne that works by increasing the speed of skin renewal. While getting treatment with Retin-A try not to use products that may cause or contribute to skin irritation, including radical skin cleansers, permanent chemicals, products containing alcohol, harsh shampoos or soaps. Avoid prolonged sun exposure as this drug can make your skin very sensitive to sunlight. Make sure you wear protective clothes and use sun screen with SPF of at least 15. Retin-A should be applied to a dry and clean area, according to the schedule recommended by your doctor.
If you have any particular skin conditions, such as eczema, dry or chapped skin, wounds etc. do not apply this medicine to the areas affected. Applying more of Retin-A will not help to improve its efficiency. Make sure you do not wash the area treated with Retin-A for at least an hour after the procedure to make sure the medicine is absorbed by your skin. Do not stop taking Retin-A even if you think it is not working for you: it takes a few weeks for some stable effects to become obvious. This medicine is FDA pregnancy category C, which means it can be harmful to an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant during the period of treatment.
